On December 14, the President of the United Arab Emirates, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, arrived on an official visit to the Presidential Palace in Nicosia, where he met with the President of the Republic of Cyprus, Nicos Christodoulides.
Upon arrival, the head of state was given a solemn official reception with the playing of the national anthems of the UAE and Cyprus, as well as a review of the guard of honor.
As part of the ceremony, Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan laid a wreath at the memorial of Archbishop Makarios III, the first President of the Republic of Cyprus.
The UAE President then welcomed the ministers and senior Cypriot officials. In turn, President Nikos Christodoulides welcomed the official UAE delegation accompanying His Highness. It included, in particular, Sheikh Mohammed bin Hamad bin Tahnoun Al Nahyan, Advisor to the President of the UAE, as well as other senior representatives of the government and government agencies of the United Arab Emirates.
According to a statement by government spokesman Konstantinos Letimbiotis, discussions during the meeting focused on deepening bilateral cooperation in key areas including investment, energy, technology, trade, education, culture, tourism, shipping, security and critical infrastructure protection.
Both leaders expressed a common opinion that this visit marked a transition from strategic coordination to the practical implementation of the agreements reached, emphasizing the intention of the parties to intensify joint initiatives and projects in the designated areas.
