The Turkish authorities announced that a private plane crashed outside Ankara, carrying among others the chief of the General Staff of the Libyan Armed Forces.
The Minister of Interior of Turkey, Ali Gerlikaya, the communication with the aircraft was lost around 7:50 Cyprus time, about 40 minutes after it took off from the Turkish capital to Tripoli, Libya. The pilot of the Falcon 50 aircraft had requested permission for an emergency landing in the Haymana area of Ankara. In addition to the head of the Libyan armed forces, four passengers and a three-member crew were on board the aircraft.
