The military leadership of Ukraine has announced that the country's forces have withdrawn from the city of Siversk.
As stated in a statement of the General Staff of the Ukrainian army, the Russian forces advanced due to their significant numerical superiority and constant pressure from small assault groups in difficult weather conditions.
Moscow had announced the capture of the small Ukrainian city on December 11.
The population of the city of Siversk - which is located in the eastern part of Ukraine - was just over 10,000 before the war.
Meanwhile, in the early hours of the morning, the mayor of Moscow announced that Russian air defense systems had destroyed a Ukrainian unmanned aerial vehicle, which was heading towards the Russian capital.
