Rich Table 2025 Low Income 2025

The "rich" version of the Christmas table is presented without price differences, according to the research and comparison made by the Cyprus Consumers' Association. At the same time, in the version of the Christmas table for the weaker economic incomes presented by the Association, there is a 9% increase compared to last year.

The Association's survey was conducted from 10 to 19 December 2025. A total of three retail price checks were made, only in supermarkets in Nicosia, and included a total of 34 food and beverage items.

The research aimed to calculate the cost of the Christmas table for both 4 people and 6 people for the categories "rich table" which includes all 34 products, "economic table" which includes only 19 of the total 34 products and "table for the weaker economic incomes" which includes only 11 of the 34 products.

According to the results of the research, the total cost of a "rich" table" for a family of four in Nicosia is estimated at 160 euros and for a family of six 227 euros. Compared to the cost of the Christmas table 2024 there is no differentiation. The total cost was about the same.

The total cost of an "economy" table includes 19 of the 34 items. For a family of four in Nicosia it is estimated at 98 euros and for a family of six 129 euros.

The total cost of a table for the weaker economic income includes 11 of the 34 items. For a family of four in Nicosia it is estimated at 33 euros and for a family of six 49 euros. Compared to the cost of the Christmas table 2024 there is an increase of 9%.

According to the Association, there were fluctuations in the number of research products between December 10 and December 19, when the research lasted. On December 19, a noticeable decrease in lamb meat was observed due to the offers in the supermarkets of the order of 12%. In addition, a large average increase of 82% was observed in cucumbers, in tomatoes an average increase of 65% and in potatoes an average increase of 10%.

It is noted that a number of items included in the survey were offered at promotional prices. The majority of offers were maintained throughout the survey.

The Association also notes that significant differences in prices between points of sale were observed for Christmas foods. However, because these items can differ significantly in terms of the materials used in their preparation, even in their exact weight, their comparison cannot be considered reliable and objective, which is why it is not commented on in the research.
