The Municipality of Limassol gave €200,000 to the School Ephorate to upgrade school infrastructure

A press conference was held on Monday, December 22, 2025 at the "Panos Solomonidis" Municipal Cultural Center for the delivery of financial sponsorship of €200,000 to the Limassol School Authority, with the aim of upgrading sports infrastructure in public schools.

The sponsorship is part of the Municipality's long-term investment strategy in sports areas and school facilities and is a continuation of the sponsorships that were given in 2023 and 2024, amounting to €100,000 per year.

The Mayor of Limassol, Mr. Yiannis Armeutis, in his speech underlined that upgrading the school infrastructure was a fixed priority of the Municipality. He emphasized that modern and safe sports facilities benefit not only the students, but also the residents of the neighborhoods, creating lively and functional cores of activity for the whole day. At the same time, he pointed out that today's investment responds to the increased needs of the city and enhances the opportunities for sports, social contact and free time for children, young people and families.

Special reference was made to the importance of cooperation in view of the reform of Local Government, which foresees that the School Ephories will be subordinated to the Municipalities from 2029. Mr. Armeutis noted that the joint action of the Municipality and the School Ephoria is an essential preparation for the new institutional framework and will lead to more efficient management of school infrastructure.

Afterwards, the President of the School Board, Mr. Nikos Stylianidis, thanked the Municipality for its continuous support and presented the projects that have already been completed, as well as those that are planned. He said that the sponsorship of the Municipality turned into substantial interventions, such as new courts, plastic floors, turfs, canopies and upgraded multi-use rooms. He emphasized that the goal of the Ephorate was to upgrade all schools equally, so that every child has access to the same opportunities.

The conference ended with the delivery of a €200,000 check from the Mayor to the President of the School Ephorate and with the joint commitment of both sides that the collaboration will continue with consistency and vision, so that the city's school facilities develop into safe and modern spaces that meet the needs of society.
