February 26 anchorage and pipelines are expected in Vasiliko, says ALK

The project for the construction of a berth and the installation of two submarine pipelines for the transport of LPG in the sea port area of Zygio (Vassiliko) is estimated to be completed around mid-February 2026, says the Cyprus Ports Authority (CPA).

He also mentions that today the project is at approximately 60% of its estimated completion time, while pointing out that ALK has already responded to all the issues mentioned in the report, with a reply letter to the Audit Service, which is included in its entirety in the Special Report, on pages 53-66.

He notes that "due to the nature of the Project and the dangerousness of the cargo, the Authority has concluded at least seven additional contracts for the Project, with Consultants (designers/engineers, auditors, taxonomists, environmentalists, risk, safety and health), with the aim of its successful completion and safe operation".

At the same time, as it states, it is in communication with the relevant Ministries of Transport, Communications and Works and Trade, Energy and Industry as well as with the Consortium of oil companies.

"The Authority is making every effort to complete the Project as soon as possible, which should be mentioned as a specialized, marine technical project, not common in the Cypriot territory, but necessary for the safe unloading of the gas in the area of Zygio (Vasilikos), where the facilities of the oil companies have been moved from Larnaca where they were previously. Although this is a Project that concerns the needs of a consortium of oil companies for the unloading of gas, the Authority undertook its implementation, based on and respecting the relevant Decision of the Council of Ministers", he adds.

He understands that he "always takes very seriously the recommendations that are made and, where possible, takes timely corrective measures and/or similar future decisions, as he will do now for ongoing and future tenders".
