On Thursday (New Year's Day), the weather will initially be partly to mostly cloudy, with the possibility of isolated showers mainly in the northern 1/3 of the island, west and mountains. Any phenomena in the Troodos region will be in the form of snow. In the afternoon, the weather will become progressively clear with a few local clouds. The winds will blow from the west to the northwest, initially at an intensity of 2-4 Beaufort, to strengthen progressively to 4-5 Beaufort with gusts that will locally reach 6 Beaufort, while in the headwinds and mountain tops the winds will blow at an intensity of 5-6 Beaufort, with gusts that will locally reach 7 Beaufort. The temperature will fluctuate around normal levels for the season and will rise to around 14 to 16 degrees Celsius in interior lowland parts of the island, around 15 to 17 degrees Celsius on the coast and around 1 degree Celsius in Chionistra.

On Thursday night, the weather will be mostly clear with a few local clouds, however transiently increased cloud in the mountains from about 800 meters and above is possible to give light snow, with a chance of light snow. Winds will initially blow from the north to northwest at an intensity of 3-4 Beaufort and locally on the windward and mountain tops of up to 5 Beaufort, with gusts that will locally reach 6 Beaufort, to gradually turn downwind at an intensity of 1-3 Beaufort. The temperature will be slightly below normal for the season and will drop to around 4C inland, around 6 to 8C on the coast and around -5C in Chionistra. Frost will form in the mountains, while weak frost will also form in semi-mountainous areas.

The temperature will fluctuate slightly below normal levels for the season and will drop to around 4 degrees Celsius inland, around 6 to 8 degrees Celsius on the coast and around -5 degrees Celsius in Chionistra. Frost will form in the mountains while light frost will also form in semi-mountainous areas.
