Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said that the West must understand that Moscow has the strategic initiative in Ukraine.
In an interview with a Russian news agency, Mr. Lavrov said that Western countries should come to terms with the reality on the ground, almost four years after Moscow's invasion of Ukrainian territory. The Russian foreign minister also said the United States now supported the idea that with the end of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky's term, elections should be held. At the same time, Sergey Lavrov emphasized that for a settlement in the Ukrainian conflict, Kiev should not join NATO but adopt a neutral, non-aligned status.
