According to the Statistical Service, the total number of registered vehicles increased by 4.2% in the period January-October 2025 and reached 44,732, compared to 42,930 during the same period in 2024.
In its edition of the Motor Vehicle Registrations report covering the period January-October 2025, the Service reports that in October 2025, total motor vehicle registrations reached 4,520, an increase of 9.9% from 4,111 in October 2024. Passenger saloon car registrations increased by 11.7% in 3,457 from 3,096 in October 2024.
The main developments that occurred in vehicle registrations during the period January-October 2025, compared to the corresponding period in 2024, are as follows. The total number of vehicle registrations increased by 4.2% in January-October 2025 to 44,732, compared to 42,930 in the same period in 2024. Passenger saloon car registrations increased by 4.0% to 34,782, compared to 33,440 in the same period of 2024. 2024. Of the total passenger saloon cars, 12,954 or 37.2% were new and 21,828 or 62.8% were used cars. Rental cars in particular saw a 33.8% increase to 4,866.
At the same time, the share of gasoline-powered saloon cars in the total of this vehicle category decreased in the period January-October 2025 to 42.5% (from 49.5% in the corresponding period of 2024), as did the share of diesel-powered cars (from 10.0% in 2024 to 8.6% in 2025). On the contrary, the share of electric vehicles (from 3.8% in 2024 to 4.8% in 2025) and hybrids (from 36.7% to 44.1%) increased.
Bus registrations increased to 167 in January-October 2025, up from 125 in the same period in 2024. Freight vehicle registrations increased to 5,142 in January-October 2025, compared to 4,823 in the same period in 2024, an increase of 6.6%. Specifically, rental vehicles increased by 23.3% to 238, light trucks by 6.6% to 4,111 and heavy trucks by 3.1% to 594, while road tractors (trailers) remained at the same levels as last year, at 199.
Moped registrations < 50cc fell to 190 in January-October 2025, compared to 627 in the same period in 2024, while motorcycle registrations > 50cc increased by 17.0% to 3,916 in January-October 2025, compared to 3,348 in the same period in 2025. 2024.
