Departure day of the expeditions, yesterday, from the Regatta of Champions 2025 – The R.O.C. after the completion of 4 races on Saturday, November 8th and for the first time all 25 races, and a modest Closing Ceremony focusing on the Sailors, Coaches, Officials, Partners and all the Volunteers who helped make The R.O.C. the most prestigious race of the Optimist class, in the World.
Unsettled winds during the final day of racing did not prevent the Race Committee from completing all 25 races, a record for the R.O.C.. It turned out that The R.O.C. is the toughest and most competitive Regatta organized worldwide. After 25 hard-fought races, it all came down to the final day of sailing with Manuel Braganca (BRA) crowned R.O.C. World Champion. for 2025, along with an Academic Scholarship Award (ASU) of €8,000. Nikolaos Pappas (GRE) fought hard and finished 2nd and an ASU of €6,000. Followed in 3rd place by Tomas Morteo (ARG) and BAU €4,000, 4th Will Keilty (CAN) and BAU €3,000, 5th Izan Rogel (ESP) and BAU €2,000, 6th Carl Birgersson (DEN), 7th Andreas Demurtas (ITA), 8th Francisco Balbuena (ARG), 9th Ines Mendez Larminaux (PUR), 10th Alexander Forssen (SWE), 11th Bastien Cerrato (FRA), and 12th Ernst Akesson (SWE) all with a prize of €1,000 each. Top Girls was Ines Mendez Larminaux (PUR) who also received the rewarding prize Andrea Ioannidis who joined the event last year, followed by Margaux Minh Nguyen (HKG) and Freja Vintergaard (DEN). The Coaches were led by Filippe Novello (BRA), Leo Clarke-Lens (GBR) and Juan Pablo Grosso (ARG). Although we had some unsettled conditions, for the first time ever, all 25 races were completed. It turned out that The R.O.C. is the toughest and most competitive Regatta organized worldwide. After 25 hard-fought races, it all came down to the final day with Manuel Braganca (BRA) crowned The R.O.C. Champion of The World. for 2025, together with an Academic Scholarship Award (ASA) of €8,000.
Nikolaos Pappas (GRE) fought hard, but finished 2nd and €6,000 ASA.
