The Supreme Commission of the Republic of Cyprus in the UK announced the beginning of the reception of the first electronic resolution applications. This is a new obligatory document that citizens of Cyprus and other countries should receive before a trip to the United Kingdom.
What allows ETA and what are the restrictions?
The registration of permits for Cyprus citizens started on March 5, but it will be required to travel only from April 2. ETA (Electronic Travel Authorisation) allows: - to be in the UK for six months for tourism, visiting relatives and friends, business goals or training; - carry out transit; - to be in the UK for the Creative Worner Visa program; - to come to the country on a permitted and previously coordinated paid activity.
This does not give the right to work, live in the UK constantly or come to marry.
How to apply?
The cost of electronic resolution is 10 pounds. To get this, you need to fill out the form by downloading a special application on the government website at the link. The original passport and bank card will be required. You do not need to enter details of the trip. The answer will come to e -mail within three business days. The application must be submitted in advance. This is issued for two years, but in case of replacing the passport, it must be updated. All traveling, including children, should receive it.
This is not required for those who already have a current British visa, permission to accommodate, work or study in the UK, citizens of Ireland or British overseas territories, as well as owners of dual citizenship, if one of them is British or Irish.
About the Electronic Resolution Program
ETA was introduced in March 2023, first for citizens of the countries of the Persian Gulf and Jordan. From January 1, 2025, the receipt of the document has become mandatory for citizens of a number of states with which the UK has a visa -free regime (Australia, Canada, Israel, the USA, the UAE, etc.). Since April 2, this has become mandatory for citizens of the European Union, Norway, Switzerland, Iceland, Andorra, Liechtenstein, Monaco, San Marino and the Vatican.
