The meeting of the personal envoy of the Secretary General of the United Nations, Maria Angela Holgin, with the leader of the Turkish Cypriots, Tufan Erhiurman, lasted about an hour.
After the meeting, Mrs. Holgin, in her statements, described the discussion as good and useful.
She also expressed her pleasure to host the meeting of the two leaders next week and hopes, as she said, for a concrete and productive discussion between the three of them.
Tufan Erhiurman said they discussed three main issues with Mrs. Holgin and how she raised the issue of traffic congestion at the Agios Dometios roadblock. As mentioned, Mr. Erhuurman presented to Mrs. Holgin his proposal, four points, for the resumption of talks on the basis of timetables.
They also discussed the ten-point package he submitted with the aim of creating a positive climate. They also re-evaluated what was agreed in the two informal five-party meetings in Geneva and New York between Ersin Tatar and Nikos Christodoulidis.
Mr. Erhiurman, responding to a related question, said that he has no problem holding a new five-party meeting, however he noted that some specific things must be done in Nicosia first.
