President of Cyprus Nikos Christodulidis will visit San Francisco, California, on an official visit. The main goal that he pursues is to promote Cyprus as a regional hub of technology, innovation and startups.
According to the official representative of the government Konstantinos Letimbiotis, as part of the visit, the president will meet with the leaders of the leading world technological and investment corporations, including giants such as Openai, Amazon, Google, Nvidia, Oracle, Tenstorrent, Plug & Play, Andreessen Horowitz and Fortress Investment Group.
According to Letimbiotis, the key task of the visit is to establish strategic cooperation, strengthen the ties of Cyprus with the global innovation ecosystem and attract investments to the island, as well as international technological companies interested in expanding their presence in the European Union and the Eastern Mediterranean region.
“This visit is part of the Government’s wider strategy to strengthen the reputation of Cyprus as a reliable, stable and technologically advanced country favorable for startups, research centers and high -tech enterprises,” said Letimbiotis.
Cyprus uses its strategic advantages, including a favorable geographical position at the crossroads of Europe, the Middle East and North Africa, to act as a “bridge” between the three continents, contributing to cross -border cooperation and knowledge exchange.
According to official figures, the technological sector of Cyprus is already more than 14% of the country's GDP and demonstrates steady growth of 15-17% annually. This growth is provided by a developed digital infrastructure, highly qualified labor in the field of ICT and support at the state level.
Letimbiotis also emphasized that Cyprus takes 8th place in the European Union and the 15th in the world in terms of venture investment in percentage of GDP, which makes the country one of the most competitive ecosystems for startups and innovative business.
The visit of President of Christodulidis to Silicon Valley is designed not only to strengthen the image of Cyprus as a technological center, but also to lay a strong foundation for long -term cooperation with global leaders in the field of advanced technologies.
