Independent Member of the Cyprus Parliament Andreas Themistosleous said that the process of officially registering his new political party, the Democratic National Movement (Δημοκρατικό Εθνικό Κίνημα), will be completed in the coming days.
The basic principles of the new party are focused on protecting Cyprus Hellenism, traditional values and national identity.
The movement will focus on the following priorities:
Preserving Hellenism in Cyprus: protecting national interests and Greek education. Opposition to WOKE culture: The party opposes same-sex marriage, the adoption of children by such couples and sex education classes in schools. Solution to the Cyprus problem: the party rejects any compromise that could lead to ethnic destruction. Social justice: supporting low-income families and the middle class through tax breaks. Rural Development: Revitalizing mountain and rural communities by strengthening the primary sector of the economy.
Political position and structure
According to Themistosleous, the Democratic National Movement aims to unite Greek Cypriots regardless of their current political affiliation. The party intends to become a platform for the reconciliation of voters of all views - from AKEL to DISI, ELAM, DIKO and EDEC.
The official registration of the party is expected within two weeks, and its constituent conference is scheduled for mid -April. Currently, the emblem of the party is being developed, and among the participants in the movement there are already famous figures of Cyprus policy.
Temicokleus uttered that his party would not limit itself to the Coalition or Opposition. “We will support or criticize the government based on our own principles and positions,” he said.
Temicockleus emphasized that the movement supports the strengthening of the country's defense capabilities and strengthening unions with the United States and the countries of the region. He expressed disagreement with the “agenda”, in particular the introduction of the terms “parent 1” and “parent 2”.
