The official portal of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan reports that the head of the Foreign Ministry of the Republic of Kazakhstan was adopted by President Nicosa Khristodulidis. During the meeting, "a high level of bilateral cooperation, reached recently, and the mood for its further strengthening were noted."
Cyprus is an important partner of Kazakhstan
Murat Nurtleu handed Nicos Christolidis to the warm words of greeting and the best wishes from the President of Kazakhstan Kasim-Zhomart Tokayev. He noted that Cyprus remains one of the important partners in the European Union and the Mediterranean. Since 2005, state investments in the economy of Kazakhstan amounted to $ 4.8 billion.
President Nicos Khristodulidis called the visit of the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan "historical". The head of state emphasized that Nicosia is ready to strengthen the connections, based on past diplomatic contacts. He also recalled his own visit to Astana as a foreign minister. Then Cyprus and Kazakhstan signed an agreement to avoid double taxation, which was a key step in strengthening economic ties.
Opening of embassies and the prospects of cooperation
The interlocutors welcomed the mutual opening of embassies in the capitals of both countries. The parties also stated the presence of prospects for the further development of cooperation in the fields of trade, transport, digitalization and tourism, and also discussed the possibility of direct air traffic between the two countries. President of Christodulidis noted that such a step will improve transport capabilities and trade, and also strengthen diplomatic relations even more.
In addition, an exchange of views on topical issues of the regional and global agenda took place. The response visit of Nicos Khristodulidis to Kazakhstan will be associated with the preparation of Cyprus for the presidency in the EU Council in the first half of 2026.
