The District Court of Limassol issued an 8-day detention order against three women, two 24-year-olds and a 35-year-old woman, in connection with the murder of the 30-year-old Nigerian, Victory Osarumen Thompson, who was found dead in an apartment in Germasogeia, on Sunday morning.
According to the investigator of the case, the suspects claim that they had returned from a night club, together with a couple of their compatriots, finding the 30-year-old in a furious state and estimated that she had used drugs. As they claim, the victim bit one of them and an attempt was made to immobilize her, with the 35-year-old beating her with a broomstick, while an attempt was made to tie her up with wire.
The suspects also reported that their friendly couple left, while they themselves went to sleep, believing that the 30-year-old had simply fainted, while in the morning they realized that she was dead and informed the ambulance service, after first cleaning the apartment.
The case investigator said the findings showed the victim was "brutally beaten", noting that the broomstick used was found to be broken. He added that it was established that the women were engaged in prostitution and that the 1st suspect lived with the victim in Nicosia, while for the last week she was staying in the apartment in Germasogeia.
As part of the investigation into the case, the Nigerian couple who allegedly took the victim's mobile phone with them are being sought.
The lawyers of the three women – two of whom are political asylum seekers and one of whom resides illegally on the territory of the Republic – did not object to their request for personal detention.
The District Court of Limassol ordered their detention for a period of eight days in relation to offenses involving conspiracy to commit a felony and premeditated murder.
