In the municipality, Amatus (Hagios Tikhonas) is temporarily closed by the beaches after detecting a high level of naval water pollution.
The Department of Environment, together with the competent authorities, urged residents and tourists to refrain from swimming in the area. The measure is preventive and aimed at protecting public health.
The situation is under constant control. Repeated sampling and analysis in cooperation with health services and the main state chemical service have already begun.
Local authorities are informed about the problem, work to eliminate pollution continues. An additional announcement will be made after confirmation of water safety.
