Israel: Approval of the construction of housing units in the West Bank

Israel has given final approval to build 764 housing units in three settlements in the occupied West Bank.

Ultra-nationalist Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich - who opposes the creation of a Palestinian state - said that since the start of his term in late 2022, approximately fifty-one thousand, three hundred and seventy housing units have been approved by the Supreme Planning Council, regarding the West Bank.

The Palestinian side hopes that the territory of the West Bank will be used for the creation of a future Palestinian state.
