The Meteorological Department of the Republic of Cyprus has introduced a fourth consecutive “yellow” level of weather danger due to Cyclone Byron.

On Sunday, December 7, dozens of island residents called the fire service of the Republic of Cyprus with requests to pump out water from flooded basements, clean storm drains and remove large tree branches that had fallen to the ground.
The Paphos region suffered the most from Cyclone Byron.
The Polis-Latchi road had to be closed due to the abundance of water. Polis Mayor Yotis Papachristofi stressed that these were the heaviest rains in the last 80 years and urged people not to travel around the city unless necessary.
There was a lot of rainwater on the streets of Limassol. Stones and pieces of soil fell on a number of roads in the mountainous part of the region. Visibility on the Nicosia-Limassol highway was limited.
In the village of Prodromi, a tied donkey was left to get wet in the rain, which caused outrage on social networks.
Due to rainfall, a beautiful waterfall appeared in the monastery of St. Neophytos near the village of Tala.
Cyprus weather forecasters promise mostly cloudy weather on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday (from December 9 to 11). Scattered showers and isolated thunderstorms (possibly with hail) are forecast. Temperatures will remain slightly below typical December climate levels.
