The task of the inspectors is to assess the level of readiness for Cyprus to join the Schengen area in the areas of law and order, security and migration. They also study the country's internal security system and measures to protect personal data and human rights. Nicosia is awaiting an official report from the European Commission on the technical readiness of Cyprus to join Schengen. Most likely, it will contain a number of recommendations.
