Meeting of the President - with the Minister of Energy of Lebanon

Closer cooperation between Cyprus and Lebanon is confirmed, with the most important development being the demarcation of maritime zones.

The President of the Republic met at noon with the Minister of Energy of Lebanon, Joseph Saadi, at the Presidential Palace.  

Welcoming the Lebanese Minister of Energy, President Christodoulidis said, among other things, that Lebanon is the closest country to Cyprus, recalling that he himself went to Beirut shortly after the election of President Aoun.

He added that in view of the Cypriot Presidency of the Council of the European Union there is close cooperation between the two countries in order for there to be positive developments regarding the relations between the European Union and Lebanon.  

Among the topics discussed during the meeting, according to President Christodoulidis, was the possibility of electrical interconnection between the two countries and the possibility of support from the European Union.
