At satisfactory levels and better than previous years, the traffic in the stores moved during the holidays and in the last days before the New Year.
This was stated by the CEO of POVEK, Stefanos Koursaris, initially noting that the market moved to satisfactory levels, mainly in essential goods.
"I can say that the market moved at satisfactory levels, especially in terms of basic necessities," he said and noted that the change in weather and the drop in temperature also helped the other sectors, namely clothing and footwear.
Mr. Koursaris added that perhaps some consumers are now waiting for us to enter the discount season in order to make other purchases.
"In general I can say that the festive atmosphere, the Cypriot mentality, the Christmas and New Year table, created an atmosphere which was helpful in terms of purchases," he said.
Asked about the issue of punctuality and whether it had an impact on the market, Mr. Koursaris said that in such cases and during such festive periods, "punctuality comes second" and everyone tries to meet the needs of their family.
"But surely there is precision," he added, "there is certainly a portion of the world that has made conservative purchases, but I repeat that compared to other years it was a good and satisfactory year," he concluded.
