On Tuesday, August 5, the Fire Service of Cyprus conducted an unusual rescue operation, removing a teenager from a tree in the area of Engomi, Nikosia.
According to the representative of the fire service Andreas Kettis, the call came shortly before 14:00. The teenager was about six meters at an altitude and could not go down on his own. Rescuers with a specialized car and a telescopic staircase arrived at the place. The boy was safely lowered to the ground, he was not injured.
“He is healthy and sound,” Kettis said in the publication on the platform X.
This case has become one of 26 incidents to which the fire service responded over the past day: 13 fires and 13 rescue or auxiliary operations.
An hour after the salvation of the teenager, the firefighters again had to go to the call. In Okorlini (Larnaka), the car drove off the road and crashed into a palm tree. The driver, the woman, was clamped in the cabin. She was released with hydraulic forceps and delivered to the hospital of the general profile of Larnaki.
Early in the morning on Wednesday August 6, a car parked near a private house caught fire in polemoid. The call entered at 4:56, three fire engines arrived at the place. The car received serious damage, the causes of the fire are clarified together with the police.
Kettis reminded the residents of the need to be careful and avoid unnecessary risks, especially in heat and dry weather conditions that contribute to fires.
