Assistance to victims of the EAS and two ministries

Limassol, affected by fires in the Limassol region, promise quick help: up to 500 euros in electricity accounts, compensation for the restoration of enterprise property and paying salaries to employees. By the end of the week, the authorities intend to return electricity to most of the damaged areas.

The electric company of Cyprus announced that all households and enterprises affected by the fire in the Limassol region will receive a subsidy of up to 500 euros. The amount will be included in their expense for electricity. To do this, they need to fix the damage to their property in the register prepared by local authorities.

Until September 30, all planned electricity shutdowns, including households with debts for paying bills, will be suspended in areas affected by fires. Additional information by phone 99 399254 and e -mail: [email Protected].

"

We are actively working on the fastest restoration of damage caused by fire, and thank the victims for patience, ”

- They said in an electric company of Cyprus.

The government intends to restore the power supply of 80% of the injured areas by the upcoming weekend. This was stated by Energy Minister Yorgos Papanastasiu. He said that significant progress was achieved in restoration. Currently, the power supply is completely restored in the villages of Hagios Georgios, Silika, Alass, Lof and Malia, as well as in Ipsonas. 150 workers are working to return light and electricity to the injured villages, although they have to work "in hard -to -reach areas, at high temperatures, in difficult conditions." The minister called them heroes and thanked for work.

He also announced two plans for assistance to enterprises that the Ministry of Energy, Trade and Industry developed in cooperation with the Ministry of Finance. The forefront of compensation concerns raw materials, goods and supplies that burned down in a fire, and those that were destroyed due to the power outage. The background is covered by the restoration of infrastructure and mechanical equipment of enterprises. The maximum amount for companies is 300,000 euros, it will be paid in three doses. As a result of the fire, 19 commercial premises, 85 warehouses, three restaurants and one store were injured. The ministry will send them the damage registration forms.

Another financial assistance plan was announced by the Ministry of Labor. The head of the department Yannis Panayota said that the Ministry of Labor will allocate 1.3 million euros to help people who were left without work if their workplaces or means of labor were injured as a result of a fire. The first compensation payment will be made before the end of August. The plan is valid until October, but can be extended depending on how much the economy will restore in the affected areas.

The amount paid by the government will “correspond to the amount of wages that each employee received for the previous period”, and data from the Social Insurance Fund will be used to calculate the allowance. Payment will also include social insurance contributions to pay both by employees and employers.

“The goal is that the money is paid to the victims without bureaucratic delays, and contacts with the beneficiaries to confirm their data would begin immediately,” said to the panayot.
