The “red level” of the danger of forest fires has been declared in Cyprus

On Monday, the maximum - “red” is set in the territory of Cyprus - the level of fire hazard. On Sunday, on Sunday, on August 10, he warned the department of forestry, calling for residents and tourists to marvelous caution.

Summer in Cyprus is traditionally accompanied by high temperature and dry winds, which creates ideal conditions for the occurrence of fires. At the same time, as experts note, most forest fires arise due to the fault of a person-due to careless handling of fire, abandoned cigarette butts or burning dry grass.

The Forestry Department recalled that a deliberate or unintentional arson is a criminal offense for which serious fines and imprisonment are provided.

The authorities strongly recommend that during walking in nature and picnics completely exclude any actions that can lead to fire: do not breed bonfires, do not use open fire, not throw out the unbridled cigarettes and not leave glass bottles that can work as a lens.

At the first signs of smoke or fire, it is necessary to immediately call emergency services: the department of forestry - 1407 or in the fire service - 112.
