On matters of substance, the Greek Cypriot side hopes that the first tripartite meeting of Holgin - Christodoulidis - Erhiurman will focus on next Thursday, with the ultimate goal of resuming substantive negotiations on the Cyprus issue.
Speaking to the Morning Itinerary, Government Spokesman Constantinos Letymiotis said that the course of implementation of the Confidence Building Measures, which were agreed upon in the two previous multilateral conferences, will also be reviewed. He pointed out, however, that MoUs should only act as accelerators of progress towards the resumption of talks.
Mr. Letympiotis emphasized that the Greek Cypriot side aims to convene a new multilateral conference before the end of the year.
In order to prepare for the Tripartite meeting, the negotiators of the two sides will meet on Wednesday.
After the meeting with the president of the Republic and Tufan Erhiurman, the personal envoy of the Secretary General will go to Athens and Ankara, for the preparation of the multilateral conference.
