Their commitment to the Code of Industrial Relations and their decision to exclude the universal implementation of ATA, reaffirmed KEBE and OEB at the first joint session of their executive committees on Thursday, saying that they remain open in dialogue to modernize the institution.
As stated in a joint announcement, the Executive Committees of the Federation of Employers & Industrialists (OEBs) and the Cyprus Chamber of Commerce & Industry (KEBE) met on Thursday in a joint session with the aim of finalizing the strategic planning and coordinating the actions of two organizations: Pension system and tax reform.
It is reported that the joint session, first by the establishment of the two organizations, "confirms the unity of the business world and the determination of its actors to ensure the competitiveness of the real economy and the viability of public finances over time and at the same time protecting the system of trilateral cooperation.
Following the session, which was finally spent entirely in ATA, OEB and KEBE, they decided to emphasize their commitment to the Code of Industrial Relations and their determination to defend labor positions, as noted by the agents of trilateral cooperation over sixty years. Also to emphasize that "the universal application of ATA is out of discussion".
At the same time, they proclaim their genuine disposition for discussion with the aim of evolving and rationalizing / modernizing the system that has been abolished in Europe, by adopting a mechanism that will take into account the health of the economy, the protection of national competitiveness and the maintenance of fiscal stability without burdening businesses.
They recall that the employer side has made a major withdrawal from its consistent position for the abolition of ATA, accepting in 2023 an increase in the rate from 50% to 66.7% for a transitional period, with the commitment that through dialogue by the summer of 2025, the system will be modernized.
They reiterate their commitment to safeguarding the supreme good of labor peace, abstaining from any act or omission that potentially creates tension or leads to a dynamic confrontation, excluding the predictable future the exercise of constitutionally guaranteed employer rights and their hand -in -law.
"In the face of processes activated by the Excellent President of the Republic of Cyprus, OEB and KEBE, they will not currently make further announcements, statements and/or public placements," he said.
Finally, it is noted that due to a long and extensive discussion on the ATA, the examination of the other two issues of the agenda is postponed for the next session.
