Net increase of € 44 cm in deposits and a decrease of € 61m in loans in August

The deposits recorded € 44.3 million in August, according to NGI deposits and loans statistics, which are included in the issuance of monetary and financial statistics, September 2025 published by the CBC on Thursday. At the same time, loans recorded a net reduction of € 60.8 cm.

According to the CBC, total deposits in August 2025 recorded a net increase of € 44.3 million, compared to a net reduction of € 154.5 million in July 2025. The annual rate of change in total deposits reached 6%, compared to 6.5% in July 2025.

The balance of total deposits in August 2025 reached € 56.5 billion.

Cyprus resident deposits increased € 133.6 million in more detail, household and non -financial deposits increased by € 46.5 million and € 152.7 million respectively. The deposits of the other domestic sectors showed a total decrease of € 65.7 million.

Net deduction of loans

Total loans in August 2025 recorded a net reduction of € 60.8 million, compared to a net increase of € 74.9 million in July 2025. According to the CBC, the annual rate of change in total loans reached 7.2%, remaining fixed compared to July 2025.

The balance of total loans in August 2025 reached € 26.4 billion. 

Cyprus resident loans decreased € 69.9 million in more detail, loans to households and non -financial companies decreased by € 15.5 million and € 48.6 million respectively. The loans of the rest of the domestic sectors showed a total reduction of € 5.8 million.
