On September 30, the consular department of the Embassy of the Republic of Cyprus in Moscow temporarily terminated the acceptance of documents for receiving a Cyprus visa. In the same way, Cyprus consulates in St. Petersburg, Yekaterinburg and Krasnodar did. What is caused by this? When will work resume? What will be new requirements?
The Association of Tour Operators of Russia (ATOR) received information in the Cyprus diplomatic mission, from which it follows that the suspension of the issuance of visas is associated with two reasons.
1) On October 12, an automated system of entry and departure of citizens of third countries (Entry/Exit System - EES) will be introduced on the external borders of the countries included in the Schengen zone. At the first crossing of the EU border, they will be required to provide fingerprints and biometric data of the person.
2) The Republic of Cyprus is not included in the Schengen zone, but is preparing to enter it. This, according to the Cyprus Embassy in Moscow, will require the country's authorities both to strengthen control over the entry of foreigners and bringing the procedure for issuing visas into line with general Schengen requirements.
