Dendias: Greece is not threatening, but absolutely determined to defend sovereign rights

Greece is absolutely determined to defend its sovereignty and sovereign rights, announced the Minister of National Defense Nikos Dendias.

Responding to yesterday's allegations by the representative of the Turkish Ministry of Defense, Mr. Dendias emphasized that Greece has not posed any threat to any of its neighbors. Nor has it expressed, he added, any territorial or other claim against another country and certainly has not issued a threat of war.

The Turkish official was commenting on the recent tripartite Greece-Cyprus-Israel summit. He said that, with this initiative, there is no question of a military threat to Turkey. He maintained that his country remains determined to preserve stability in the region and continue the dialogue. He defiantly stated that Ankara's position regarding the security and rights of the "Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus", as it called the pseudo-state, remains clear and unchanged. Turkey, he said, has not shied away from exercising the responsibilities assigned to it as a guarantor and will not shirk from doing so in the future either.

According to the Turkish official, it is not his country that is escalating the tension in the Aegean and the Eastern Mediterranean, but the non-inclusive and unilateral actions, the approaches aimed at creating fait accompli.
