[VIDEO] Energy Minister: With the competitive market consumers will buy electricity at better prices

Energy Minister George Papanastasiou said that with the commercial operation of the competitive electricity market, consumers gradually, both individuals and businesses, will be able to buy electricity at better prices, either from conventional or renewable energy sources.

Speaking in the show "From Day to Day", Mr. Papanastasiou's debt is to provide the regulatory framework that will help all the contributors of this process act for the benefit of consumers.

The Energy Minister said the ministry, in the early stages, is expecting a reduction in the price of electricity in the order of ten to 15 percent.

However, as he explained, there are still things that need to be done in order to operate free competition, resulting in a further reduction in prices.
