Russia has announced it will retaliate after the European Union's decision to limit Russian diplomatic representation in Brussels, arguing that the move proves the Union is not worthy of participating in negotiations to end the war in Ukraine.
The representative of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Maria Zakharova, described the decision as discriminatory, stressing that the limitation of the staff of the Russian mission to 40 people will not go unanswered by Moscow.
At the same time, Ms Zakharova commented on the European Union's plans to permanently ban imports of Russian oil, saying that only a madman could propose such a measure.
According to European Union officials and a document cited by Reuters, the European Commission is expected to table the legal proposal on April 15, a few days after parliamentary elections in Hungary.
