Birds caused the fire of the Eac cables in the Nicosia region

On Wednesday, April 16, a small fire broke out in the village of Phalof in the Nicosia region, which managed to quickly take control without any consequences or reasons for concern.

According to Kristina Papadopulu, a representative of the electric power company, the cause of the fire, was a short circuit caused by birds that sat on the power transmission line.

“Birds, sitting on the wires, can suddenly flutter and thereby provoke a short circuit,” she explained. EAC brigades promptly arrived at the scene and began to carry out repair work and check infrastructure.

According to the representative of the fire service Andreas Kettis, the fire covered only about one tenth hectare, and only one fire engine was involved in extinguishing it.

“The situation is under control, nothing serious happened,” he assured.

Thanks to the coordinated actions of emergency services, the incident was liquidated as soon as possible, and there are no threats to the population or infrastructure.
