The positive results of the government's policy on the economy was mentioned by President Christodoulides, who chaired an afternoon meeting of the Council of Ministers.
In his opening position, the President of the Republic said that the issue of the session is the approval of the state budget for 2026, stressing that the strong growth economy is one of the government's key priorities.
He said it was a surplus budget, stability and perspective and that there is an additional 4.7% increase in development spending and 6.7% in social benefits.
He emphasized that it is particularly important that public debt is continuing a steady downward trend, adding that for 2026 it will be reduced to 52.9%, from the lowest in the eurozone.
It was particularly important that the country's growth rate is expected to range from 3.1% and unemployment to 4.6%.
The President of the Republic also referred to the government's responsible policy in the economy and other areas.
