About 30 cats were poisoned in Limassol's cemetery in Limassol.
The incident occurred on Saturday, on September 20, when the zoo guards discovered dozens of dead animals, next to which poisoned baits lay.
A group of protection of animals of environmental movement - civil cooperation reported that the dead cats had foam around the mouth, which indicates a heavy painful death. Four kittens were taken to a veterinary clinic in critical condition, only two managed to save.
According to the photographs from the scene, some of the cats had collars, which suggests that some of them were pets. Most animals, according to the organization, were thrown into the cemetery by local residents.
“This caused sadness, disgust, anger and indignation of those who took care of cats and fed them at their own expense,” the organization said.
Limassol police to protect animals began an investigation. It is noted that such cases in this area have already been recorded earlier.
The coordinator for animals of the environmental movement of Anti Muzuri said:
