At 4 a.m. Thursday, January 1st, the Cyprus Meteorological Service
announced
on the introduction of the first “yellow” level of weather danger in 2026. Its validity period is from 9:00 to 18:00. The island will be hit by very strong winds of up to 8 on the Beaufort scale*.

on the Beaufort scale corresponds to wind speeds from 17.2 to 20.7 m/s. The wind breaks thin branches and dry branches of trees. Walking against the wind is very difficult.
Do not forget to remove sun loungers, umbrellas and garden furniture from lawns, and from balconies and verandas - flower pots and clothes dryers that could be blown away by the wind.
WEATHER FORECAST
On the first day of 2026, partly cloudy weather is expected in Cyprus. Intermittent rain and thunderstorms are possible in some areas of the island. Wet snow may fall in the Troodos mountains. On the coast the air will warm up to +17 degrees, in the interior of the island - up to +14°C, in the mountains - up to +3.

On Friday, January 2, and Saturday, January 3, Cypriot weather forecasters predict improved weather conditions. Air temperatures will remain below seasonal norms. On Sunday, January 4, temperatures will begin to gradually rise.
