Gaza at the center of Trump-Netanyahu meeting

US President Donald Trump will meet with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu today.

According to a statement from the White House, the President of the United States will receive the Israeli Prime Minister at 20:00 Cyprus time in Florida.

The meeting is expected to discuss the next steps for the Gaza ceasefire plan, as negotiations to start the so-called second phase are deadlocked.

At the meeting, President Trump is expected to emphasize the need to speed up the process to implement the second phase of the ceasefire agreement in the Gaza Strip, which provides, among other things, for the disarmament of Hamas and the progressive withdrawal of Israeli troops from the Palestinian enclave.

Donald Trump and Benjamin Netanyahu are also expected to discuss the situation in the Eastern Mediterranean, Iran's nuclear energy program and the disarmament of Hezbollah in Lebanon.
