Maya Sandu: "Moldova's accession to the EU is a strategic and national goal"

The president of Moldova, Maya Sandu, stated that her country is committed to the effort to become a member of the European Union, stressing that her country has proven through various actions that it belongs to the European family.

The integration of Moldova, he said, is not only a strategic goal, but also a national one.

Mrs. Sandou expressed her great satisfaction at the fact that she is in Cyprus, a few days before assuming the Presidency of the Council of the European Union and thanked President Christodoulidis for his assistance in the accession process of Moldova.

He said that the two had a constructive dialogue and also discussed security issues and the Ukrainian problem.

He also said that Moldova wishes to contribute to stability and peace, both in Europe and in Ukraine.

After the talks at the Presidential Palace, Nikos Christodoulidis and Maia Sandou went to Nicosia City Hall and toured along the opposition line.

Afterwards, the Moldovan President will go to the Parliament, where she will have a meeting with the president of the Chamber, Annita Dimitriou.
