The Republic of Cyprus, which in 19 days takes over the presidency of the Council of the European Union, will make every effort so that in the next six months there are essentially positive results that will bring Moldova closer to the common goal of joining the European Union, said President Christodoulidis.
He characterized the visit of the president of Moldova to Cyprus as historic, which takes place 22 years after the last visit of the president of this country to the island.
Speaking in the context of joint statements with the president of Moldova, Maia Sandou, president Christodoulidis assured that the Cypriot presidency will stand by Moldova, with specific actions and actions.
He congratulated the president of Moldova for her admirable commitment to promoting reforms and strengthening democratic institutions in the country, despite the daily hybrid threats.
He also emphasized that the people of Moldova have proven their resilience and that they truly desire and deserve to be part of the great European family.
At the same time, President Christodoulidis said that during the talks with Maia Sandou, the bilateral relations of the two countries were reviewed. He noted that with the president of Moldova, they agreed that in the immediate future, the governments of the two countries will proceed to sign specific agreements.
