Sometimes you look back - and you can’t believe how much it fit in one year. 2005 for the "Herald of Cyprus" was special: anniversary, festive, filled with new projects. We grew up, searched, mistaken, tried new approaches - and did everything with the soul. This year we submitted a license for our educational center, opened the translation bureau, and the newspaper’s birthday was held on a wide scale. And also for the first time in the history of Cyprus on the embankment of Limassol celebrated Victory Day - a common holiday for our readers and Cypriots.
It was a shame to observe how the history of World War II corresponded in many European countries. For us and Igor Alekseevich Nosonov (the main shareholder and chairman of the Board of Directors of the “Vestnik Cyprus”), she still remains the Great Patriotic War: we remember and honor the feat of heroes. But the role of our native country in the victory over fascism was not only hung up, but simply was exhausted from books and publications: according to the new version, the Americans won with the slight support of European countries.
And then, together with the Cypriot veterans of the Second World War, we decided to celebrate Victory Day, moreover, the 60th anniversary! And not somewhere in the closed hall, but right on the central embankment of Limassol. For all 60 years since the end of the war in Cyprus, this happened for the first time. The holiday turned out to be very sincere! It was a pity to throw such an undertaking.
It is clear that military anniversaries are not every year, but I wanted to meet annually. So the idea was born exactly a year later to hold a Cyprus-Russian festival-on the same dates, in the same place. This holiday then became one of the five largest events in Cyprus, as well as one of the largest holidays of friendship with Russia throughout the European Union.
In July 2005, the "Vestnik Cyprus" turned ten years old. In the Central City Park, Limassol passed a grandiose holiday: about 3,000 guests came to congratulate us. By that time, we had already had experience in organizing big events.
Since 2002, I have been preparing for a newspaper a heading with English and Greek lessons. English-to help readers (after all, by profession I am a linguist teacher), and Greek-to help, first of all, to myself. I myself studied the language then, and I needed an incentive to "do lessons." The heading was so popular that by 2005, in response to the requests of regular readers, our educational center appeared. Two years went to receive a license and paperwork. Now it is a licensed educational institution with various courses for children and adults. Thinking over his concept, I took as a basis what I had already done once in Russia: I had my own private children's center with afternoon lessons in nine subjects.
In turn, advertising transfers for the newspaper gradually became the basis for creating a professional translation bureau. About 2005, we began to offer our services to corporate and private clients. During the period of the largest heyday, they worked with 12 languages, but, of course, Russian always remained specialization.
"Bulletin of Cyprus" has received international recognition. Since that year, the editorial staff began to invite many major international events related to Russia and the Russian language. For example, the World Congress of Information Agencies, meetings and conferences in the European Parliament, the ceremony of presenting the awards "Compatriot of the Year", international conferences and forums ...
And I, as the chief editor of the Vestnik Cyprus, in December 2005 was first invited to join the presidential journalistic pool. The president himself invited. Foreigners (I only had a Russian passport) before they did not take abroad, and even more so - to accompany the president. And so my trips to negotiations with the UN Secretary General and my first trip to China as an official “presidential” journalist was an experiment for the presidential administration. So the Paper “Bulletin of Cyprus” first hit France and the People’s Republic of China (of course, I took our newspapers with me to distribute it on occasion). Subsequently, we began to publish a small circulation of a separate issue of the newspaper for each of my business trips as part of the presidential delegation.
