The latest multi-day series of yellow weather warnings will end on Thursday. On August 22, the heat will begin to recede, and temperatures will return to normal for August.
The Cyprus Meteorological Service has again issued a yellow warning for Wednesday, August 21st. It is valid from 11:00 to 16:00.
Today temperatures will reach 40 degrees Celsius in the interior of the island. 32 degrees is expected on the west and southwest coasts, 34 degrees in other coastal areas and 31 in the mountains.
In the morning hours the wind will be light, but gradually become stronger during the day and can reach 5-6 points on the Beaufort scale. In the evening and at night there will be low clouds and fog is possible.
It will become cooler at night: 21 degrees in inland areas, 23 degrees in coastal areas and 18 degrees in the mountains.
Starting Thursday, the heat will begin to recede. The temperature will decrease by 2-3 degrees and return to the August weather norm.
July of this year in Cyprus became the hottest in the history of climate observations. On average, the temperature was 2.5-3.6 degrees Celsius above normal.
