A man drowned while swimming in Ayia Napa near Cape Greco

The Joint Rescue Coordination Center (JRCC) has confirmed the death of a man who drowned on Wednesday, November 5, off the coast of Cape Greco. 

According to a JRCC spokesman, he was swimming in the area before disappearing from sight. The rescue operation for Nearchos began at 16:05.

Police with a high-speed boat, foot patrols along the coast and the Okypy ambulance joined the search. The man was removed from the water and taken to the hospital in Famagusta (Paralimni), where doctors pronounced him dead.

The causes of the incident are being investigated.
