Cyprus wrote history. With the completion of the Group C Games of the FIBA Eurobasket 2025, our country was at the heart of Europe's leading basketball event, proving that it has the vision, infrastructure and determination to host events that go beyond its close -ups.
The success of this event has been the fruit of many years of strategy, systematic work and collective dedication. From the moment Cyprus took over the challenge, until the first jambol in the upgraded international standards "Spyros Kyprianou", our federation, in close cooperation with the state and institutions, has worked methodically, with plan and determination, so that every detail and detail. The confidence shown by FIBA in our country was recognizing this methodicality and consistency we have shown. The result was fully justified by those who put their own stone, proving that Cyprus can successfully respond to international events.
The image presented by Cyprus to Europe and in the world was impressive and worthy of the highest expectations. Crushed stadiums, well -organized and fans who turned every match into a celebration made our country as a destination capable of hosting top -level events. The youth found next to international stars, the contact of society with basketball in unprecedented intensity, and the images that traveled all over Europe reinforced Cyprus's identity as a point of reference not only to sports but also in its culture, tourism and international promotion. The moment of the national anthem against Greece, sold out games and endless energy in the stands will remain indelible memories, recording Cyprus as a place that knows how to turn sports into life experience and leave a pride for future generations.
All those who contributed was a decisive role in this course. The government supported the effort consistently, the sponsors believed and invested in the vision, the institutions worked harmoniously, while the partners and team of the Cyprus Basketball Federation worked with dedication, professionalism and dedication to detail. The volunteers offered their time, energy and smile, being the pulse of the event. And above all, society embraced the Eurobasket, filling the stands with thousands of fans who sent the loudest message: Sport in Cyprus has deep roots, robust base and a bright future.
The footprint of the event is multifaceted and long -term. At the level of infrastructure, "Spyros Kyprianou" was established as a modern ornament of Cypriot sport, ready to host international matches. At the level of know -how, the experience gained by the people of the Federation and our partners creates a valuable capital for the next challenges. At the level of society, the spark that turned on the younger generation is perhaps the most important legacy: children who were inspired, who have known basketball in its top form and today who today envision their own future through sports.
The dynamic created opens new horizons. The CMS has a pure and ambitious vision: Strengthening academies, support and promotion of national teams, hosting more international events, utilizing the potential of sports tourism and further deepening cooperation with the state and bodies. The goal is a modern, professional, extrovert basketball, capable of inspiring, uniting and conquering the position it deserves on the European and international map.
The Eurobasket has made Cyprus as a credible and capable partner in the international athletic community. It has proven that our country has the ability to meet high demands and turning them into strategic opportunities for development and international promotion. This image reinforces the prestige and reputation of Cyprus far beyond the sport.
With the completion of Eurobasket 2025, Germany went to the top of Europe and deserves the warmest congratulations on its course and achievement. For us, however, the Cypriots are of particular importance to the great success of Greece, who won the bronze medal and rightly climbed the podium. A distinction that proudly filled the whole Hellenism and deeply moved all of us. We had the honor to live closely the course of National Greece through the qualifiers hosted in Cyprus; perhaps our country stood the charm they needed to get to this great result. It is a joy and honor for the whole of Cyprus - inside and outside the "Spyros Kyprianou" - who shared this route, living moments that further reinforced the ties of Hellenism and highlighted basketball as a common point of pride and inspiration.
For me personally, as the president of the Cyprus Basketball Federation, this experience is a top station in my way. It confirms that collective effort, vision and cooperation have the power to fulfill the most ambitious expectations. The Eurobasket 2025 is not a closure of a cycle; it is the beginning of a new era. An era built with strategy, synergy and belief in our abilities, with the aim of a basketball that will continue to inspire, unite and lead Cyprus to even greater success.
