Germany reiterated the position that the recognition of a Palestinian state should be done after a negotiating process is completed, stressing, however, that this process "must start now".
This position was emphasized by German Foreign Minister Johann Vandeful before leaving for New York where he will take part in the United Nations General Assembly.
"What the area now needs," he added, "is a direct truce, significantly more humanitarian aid for Gaza residents and the immediate, unconditional release of hostages."
