Green light for grant of sponsorship of 12 million euros to Municipalities

The green light was given by the Ministry of Finance to grant sponsorship to the Municipalities, 12 million euros for 2026, to cover their lost revenue from licensing fees.

The Ministry of the Interior, in a letter, notes that an amending budget will include additional funds of 1.5 million euros, for the continuation of fire safety and road safety projects.

He also underlines that he will start a dialogue with the Union of Municipalities, regarding the provision which stipulates that the salary expenses of the Municipalities should not exceed 40% of the total expenses.

The Ministry of the Interior states that it is ready to enter into a new negotiation with the Ministry of Finance and the Union of Municipalities, with the aim of submitting a legislative amendment as soon as possible, in order to provide a definitive solution to the issue.
