The former Metropolitan of Paphos Tychikos is being treated in an Athens hospital.
According to a video posted by his spiritual doctor and physician, Father Evangelos Papanikolaou, Tychikos was initially hospitalized at Onassios and then transferred to another hospital in Athens, where he continues his treatment.
He also mentioned that Tychicus had been ill before he went to Constantinople to appear before the Holy Synod of the Ecumenical Patriarchate, and the doctors had told him not to go.
The Holy Synod of the Church of Cyprus, nor Archbishop George himself, did not receive any official information about the illness of Bishop Tychikos.
Speaking to KYPE, the Press Representative of the Archdiocese of Cyprus Christakis Eustathiou said that Bishop Tychikos should have duly informed about the health problem he is allegedly facing and that the Archdiocese would also contribute to his recovery.
He added that the Holy Synod will wait for a week in order to see how Bishop Tychikos' health will develop.
He pointed out that after the departure of Tychikos from the Ecumenical Patriarchate, Archbishop George of Cyprus expects to sign the confession of faith in all the Synods convened from the first centuries of the Church's operation until today.
He also expects to repudiate the walled off in writing.
