Cyprus is gradually establishing itself as a dynamic hub of blue growth and occupying an increasingly important role in the regional and European economy, said President Christodoulidis.
In a greeting at the International Maritime Tourism Festival, in Ayia Napa, the President of the Republic said that his vision is to promote Cyprus as an attractive and competitive destination, and as one of the leading maritime tourism hubs in the Eastern Mediterranean and the wider Middle East.
He emphasized that the realization of the vision requires the cooperation of the central state, local authorities, business community and civil society.
Referring to his participation in the recent Council of the European Union and the Summit of Mediterranean States, he expressed pride in the universal recognition of the role played by Cyprus, as a safe haven in a region plagued by protracted crises.
He pointed out that he will have the opportunity to highlight this role even more during the Cypriot Presidency of the Council of the European Union, which begins in less than 70 days.
