The landscapes of Cyprus can be transferred to other countries

Cyprus has a very diverse nature. Sometimes it may feel like you are in another country. Let's talk about two such places located near Limassol and Paphos.

The diverse landscape has taken shape on the island for several reasons: the origin of the rocks, the direction of winds and currents, the level of humidity and precipitation.

So, in Akrotiri you can feel like you are in the deserts of Dubai. There is a beach hidden there, surrounded by sand dunes.

The dunes near Akrotiri were formed due to strong winds. Desert terrain has its own importance: dunes protect coastal areas from erosion due to strong waves.

In addition, rare plants grow in the sand dunes and animals that love such a landscape live. For example, migratory birds such as terns like to settle there, and turtles lay their eggs in the sand.

And a little further, in the Paphos region, in Episkopi, you can see rocks reminiscent of Meteora in Greece. This monolith, 70 meters high and 250 meters long, is the largest on the island. An entire natural ecosystem has developed around the rock. The area is protected, and the Paphos authorities recently invested 314,000 euros in work to improve access to the rock and create a recreation area.
