Social networks were shocked by a heartbreaking video filmed in one of the shelters in Cyprus.
The footage shows how the dog is desperately looking for its owner, who has just left it at the shelter.
According to volunteer Natasha Michaelidou, who posted the video on Facebook, the two-year-old male was given away by his owner simply because “he didn’t want to see him anymore.”
“This moment was shocking. The horror and amazement in the dog's eyes were unbearable. He didn’t understand why he was in an unfamiliar place and far from the home he considered his family,” Michaelidou wrote.
Volunteers describe the dog as “beautiful, kind and incredibly affectionate”, but now he is deeply depressed and lost.
“If someone can give him a chance, a home and some love, it will change his life. Please don’t let this animal lose faith in people,” the shelter staff urge.
