Annita Dimitriou: calls for the protection of the historic EOKA monument from the Greek government

The protection of the historical monument of the EOKA leader was asked by the government of Greece by DISY President Annita Dimitriou.

The party's announcement is conveyed by the warm thanks to the Prime Minister of Greece, Kyriakos Mitsotakis and the Minister of Finance, Kyriakos Pierrakakis, who reportedly responded and promoted the necessary steps to examine the matter.

The aim is to safeguard and protect the historical space that served as EOKA's headquarters and is now the tomb of General George Griva - Digenis.

According to the institutional framework and the rules governing the process, it is foreseen to cancel the tender for the use of the site.

The Ministry of Finance of Greece has already given instructions to the Directorate -General for Public Property and Public Benefits, as well as to the Directorate of Public Benefits, so that the Foundation of General George Griva - Digenis can be informed accordingly.

With this decision, the DISY announcement concludes, it is obvious: that the historical memory and the spaces that symbolize it, as the space where it lived, acted and died by the leader of the national liberation struggle, are not granted but protected.
